Leaving your boat for a long time is a very strang

Leaving your boat for a long time is a very strange feeling, i'm letting varuna for almost 3 months hopping i've done everything to find it in good shape when i come back. I feel very melancholic, after living 9 months it's just now that i realise that this little flotting thing has become a bit more than just a home. Varuna has brought me half way around the globe, we crossed an ocean together, had some amazing time, some bad too but looking back they were just little thing. you kind of develop a relationship with your boat, something emotional, not something about materialism. All the thing your boat makes you live are attached to it in a way which create a real link. I like this time alone to look back, zoom out and enjoy all the new memories we made, the new people we met this year and this is worth everything. worth the unconfort, worth the work, worth the fears you went trough, to go and pursue this little dream, cause it makes you feel alive. i'm happy to make a break, i need it, just to really take time to zoom out, rest but moslty look forward about all the unknowns, the discoveries coming next year, new season, new islands, new people, new first times, new adventures. As you can tell I'm already excited but for now it's with a mixed feeling that i'm going away from my buddy. see you next year 💙⛵

A new learning this weekend about captains life. W

A new learning this weekend about captains life. We went to visit a special place, we spent 2 night out of the boat at this place letting the boat at the anchorage.

As captain, it's hard to leave the boat without an eye to watch it fo a long periode of time (long can be short for some people 😋) . You are connected with it, which takes a little space in your mind 24/7, for exemple you go for a trek and you see that the wind is picking up you go trough a process of thought,
is the anchor well set?
do we have enough chain ?
how is the swell?...

and all this thinking + always connected to the weather is amazing but it takes a lot of energy and makes you a little bit away from the moment you are into.

Basicly you become the slave of your boat, wich is not what i signed for as captain (but ask any captain they will tell you about it).

in order the get your mind free you often double check everything but this is a lot of work and you have to realise you can't control everything.

In order to not be the slave you have to learn to let go the control freak inside of you and trust your boat.

spending 2 nights out of the boat without having the possibility to check on her, was challenging but with the beauty of this place, some wise word from a friend, i manage to get my head out of it, and live the moment without worring about the boat.

This was an interesting learning for me, i will require a bit of practice and i don't say you have to do this all the time but from time to time it's good to just let go.

Crusier life isn't always easy, sunny, beautiful.

Crusier life isn't always easy, sunny, beautiful. Like every other life it gives you challenges you have to overcome, overpass the sad feeling, clear your mind to give it space to let positive thought come in (it takes a bit of time and effort 😉), realise that your still lucky to live a dream, fullfilling, enrich by people, nature, and amazing moments.

Last week a boat draged on Varuna wich made my baby a little less sexy, luckily the damage made to it, is only superficial and will not question the dream just posponed it for a few weeks wich is nothing bad considering that we are in an amazing place.

the learning of this is that you should not focus on the little thing and look at the global picture of what you are pursuing. ❤❤
